CCGA - Gold Advanced Vehicle Control Course (CCGA) This course follows on from the Bronze and Silver Car Control courses and really starts to put into practice at much higher speeds the skills learned in the preceding courses. These skills are further applied to real life practical situations, along with teaching additional scenarios including aquaplaning. The course for some is slightly more relaxed as basic car control skills have already been acquired and with lots of timed runs to push drivers to their limits and lots of practice scenarios, the improvements should be clear to the drivers themselves. A highly educational course – by necessity as there is a lot to learn – and by the end of the course you should be able to control understeer and oversteer, manage evasive action scenarios, aquaplaning, downhill on ice exercises, damage limitation , emergency stopping whilst cornering in addition to having far more developed vehicle control skills. You will start with a 20 to 30 minute briefing recapping the theory of understeer and oversteer and an explanation of what to expect form the course. Using a Mercedes, for quality assurance all drivers are timed (before any instruction takes place) around a set course that includes slaloms, long bends, evasive action, downhill on ice, and aquaplaning, but on a variety of completely different settings simulating front, rear and four wheel drive cars. Continuous instruction is given but drivers are pushed to extremes compared to most ’skid courses’ At the end of the course, all drivers are again timed, (with the participant’s spectators in the car too), to see if there is any improvement on the original run. This can be very surprising. We are not tying to turn anyone into racing drivers; we are teaching ‘vehicle control.’ Speed is a measurement of new skills in vehicle control and part of quality assurance.
